SAN JOSE, California (OCP Global Summit), Oct. 14, 2024 — Flex Power Modules, a Flex company and leading provider of advanced power conversion solutions, today launched new Intermediate Bus Converters (IBC) designed for data centers powering AI, machine learning, and cloud applications. With the new products, the company is expanding the breadth of its portfolio of digital, non-isolated, unregulated Intermediate IBCs for greater operational efficiency and design flexibility.

At the 2024 OCP Global Summit, Flex Power Modules will showcase these new IBCs, including the BMR321 and a new variant of the 400W continuous power rated BMR320. The company is also previewing the new BMR323 variant, which promises even higher continuous and peak power capabilities in the same BMR320 form factor.

Attendees of the OCP Global Summit may visit Flex booth A11 from October 15–17 in the San Jose Convention Center.

BMR321

The new BMR321 aligns with OCP’s goals of reducing energy consumption and improving the designs for scalability of data center power architectures, including supporting greater power density per rack. The new BMR321 features a fixed ratio 8:1 conversion to enable efficient, one-step power conversion from 40-60V to 5-7.5V and offers several benefits including:

  • Peak power: delivers a continuous power of 750W and up to 1500W peak power.
  • Increased efficiency: The DC/DC power converter has an impressive peak efficiency of over 98% while maintaining a compact footprint that adheres to the Open Compute Project (OCP) standard OAM V2.0, with dimensions of 1.63 x 0.7 x 0.26 in (41.47 x 17.67 x 6.9 mm).

BMR320

Flex Power Modules is also adding a new variant of the 400W continuous power rated BMR320 range which will offer up to 740W peak power within the same compact footprint, providing a versatile option for applications that require lower power outputs in a smaller package while still benefiting from Flex Power Modules’ advanced power conversion technology. Up to three of the BMR320 variants can be paralleled if required, offering scalable power delivery to meet varying system demands.
