Answering the challenge to mass produce medical ventilators

During the earliest days of the COVID-19 pandemic, Brazil faced a sudden and dire shortage of medical ventilators. Three days after meeting with government health officials, we agreed to produce medical ventilators, even though our local Sorocaba facility had no prior medical production experience.

In just 30 days we produced our first clinical unit. Soon, we were producing 1,000 units a month — equivalent to the volume that any one manufacturer could make in a single year.
