In a fireside chat with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Becky Sidelinger, former president of Reliability Solutions at Flex, joined leaders from Redfin, Convoy, and Oak View Group to discuss the importance of sustainability, including environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) across their workplaces and industries.
Bringing ESG and DEI together to make sustainability more accessible
In the chat titled, “Making Sustainability Accessible and Equitable for All,” Becky highlighted how sustainability and DEI shows up in her early career and are integral to Flex’s business and strategy, naming experiences in the industrial business unit.

Promoting sustainability and diversity, equity, and inclusion at Flex
Becky explored the role of leadership in empowering the organization to progress inclusiveness and sustainability, showcasing successful initiatives across our organization such as mentorship programs, our Earth Day Challenge, and more. Some ways Becky recommended women and leaders can make DEI and sustainability more accessible is by:
- Recognizing that sustainability and DEI is the responsibility of everyone in the organization
- Connecting sustainability and diversity, equity, and inclusion into day-to-day work
- Aligning sustainability goals with stakeholder goals
- Sponsoring and advocating for people in the organization who are ready to uplevel by intentionally giving talent more visibility into the organization
